Ashill Fire Help & Support

Ashill Fire – July 2022

The recent and traumatic fire that engulfed parts of Ashill Village in July 2022 saw 16 homes destroyed or uninhabitable and many acres of fields and property destroyed. The one saving grace was that no one was injured or lost their life. Several Fire Crew were sent to the hospital for minor injuries and smoke inhalation. Regrettably, several pets and local wildlife did suffer and some have yet to be found.

The work to now rebuild those houses, rehome those families affected and restore their lives continues at a pace. A HUGE Aid effort was started immediately and the work continues, donations of items and money are still being received.

It has changed the face of the village, in some cases, it will be forever, in a matter of hours. The families have lost treasured and priceless memories and personal items that cannot be replaced and the thoughts of everyone go out to all affected by this horrendous fire.

The amazing work of ALL the Emergency Services (not least the huge effort from the Fire Service), Local Rescue Organisations, Local Farmers, Breckland & Norfolk Councils, Council Workers, Local Charities, Local Volunteers, Local Businesses and the stoic Residents of Ashill and Holme Hale was overwhelming. Post fire, the clean up is being handled by a huge team of local volunteers, demolition and clean up workers, with loss adjusters and building planning officers on site, too many to mention, but our thanks go to all concerned.

A series of meetings have or will be held post-fire to try and offer help and reflection to those coming to terms with their loss and how this has affected them.

A HUGE AND SINCERE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE
